History of Michelin:
1889 : In 1889 two brothers, Edouard and Andre Michelin, embarked on an adventure to develop, through ceaseless innovation, modern transport solutions. The company “Michelin and Co“ was created.
1895 : Michelin fits the first automobile with pneumatic tyres named The Eclair
1898 : The Michelin Man, Bibendum, is born.
1906 : Michelin Tyre Co Ltd is founded in London. Michelin builds its first plant outside of France in Turin.
1927 : The first plant in England is built in Stoke-on-Trent
1946 : Michelin patents the radial tyre concept
1952 : Michelin adapt the radial tyre concept to include truck tyres
1975 : Michelins’ radial technology helps Ferrari win the Formula 1 World Championship
1996 : Michelin develops the revolutionary PAX System which permits the tyre to run-flat after loss of pressure. Michelin also promotes the first coloured tyre for cars.
2005 : Renault wins the Formula 1 title racing in Michelin tyres
