Services - Tyre advice

It is dangerous to drive on tyres that are in poor condition or incorrectly inflated. Cornering, braking, steering and fuel economy will all suffer – which could affect the safety of you, your passengers and your vehicle.

When was the last time you checked your tyre treads?

We are all guilty of not checking our tyre treads as often as we should. However, it is important that we arrange for them to be checked regularly to ensure the safety of ourselves, our passengers and other road users.

At ATS Euromaster, we understand that you may not have time to inspect your treads properly, that’s why we will check them for FREE as part of our Vehicle Health Check. We will inspect each tyre carefully, looking for any cuts, cracks or bulges, as these can lead to slow punctures and blowouts. Our technicians will also take tread depth readings and, for your safety, we recommend changing your tyres when there is 2mm of tread remaining.

Do you check your tyre pressures every two weeks?

We all know we are supposed to check our tyre pressures every two weeks but how many of us find the time to do so? However, the impact of not checking them can be considerable. Under and over inflated tyres are a risk to your safety. If unchecked it will affect the handling characteristics of your vehicle and increase the risk of premature wear and failure. Furthermore, under inflated tyres will dramatically increase the fuel consumption of your vehicle.

At ATS Euromaster, we understand that you may not have time to check your tyre pressures as regularly as you would like, that’s why we will check them for FREE as part of our Vehicle Health Check.

New tyres to the rear

Most modern vehicles are front wheel drive, which means the front tyres will wear faster than the rear and the driver will normally adjust their driving style to compensate for having less grip on the front. Your safety is of the utmost importance to us which is why, in most cases, we will fit your new tyres to the rear of your vehicle to ensure :

· The vehicles handling characteristics are similar to those that you are used to

· Maintain maximum grip on the rear axle of your vehicle – a safer condition, especially on wet and slippery roads

· Provide additional protection for you against the effects of sudden deflation

REMEMBER…

If you are unsure about whether your tyre tread depths are safe and legal or uncertain about your tyre pressures, ask your local ATS service centre for a FREE tyre inspection.
Your local cetntre manager will also be happy to offer you advice and explain how your new tyres will be fitted.
