Safe By Choice

What is Safe by Choice?

Make the right choice

Introducing our new Health and Safety initiative

We're making the right choice every time to work safely......with Safe by Choice.

We have a strong Health and Safety record here at ATS Euromaster. Even so, we know that accidents can happen and that when they do, the effect that they can have on the injured person, their family and colleagues can be devastating. As a result we want to focus on encouraging our people to choose to work safely.

“We know that the majority of our people work safely. We also know that life is full of choices and we need everybody in our organisation to make the right choice, every time, to work safely.  The overarching theme in our safety ethos going forward is based on that simple principle, and we are calling it ‘Safe by Choice’.” Chris Hufflett, Group Operations Director

What Safety means to our People?

As you’d expect from the UK’s largest comprehensive tyre service provider the safety of our people and our customers means everything to us.

It also means a lot to our people too; Safe by Choice is designed to instil an overarching theme of safety into everything we do.

We want every member of our team to go about their daily jobs in the safest possible way – not because they have to, but because they want to.

For us safety is far more than simply the latest toolbox talk or policy manual; it’s how we do business and it’s what makes us stand out within our industry.

We're going back to basics and asking our people to sign up to 6 key principles:

1. Only use the right tools and equipment for the job
2. Only do jobs that you’ve been trained to complete
3. Tell your manager if something is broken or can’t be carried out in the way that you’ve been trained
4. Ask your manager to explain our safety rules if you don’t understand them
5. Tell your manager about all accidents that happen to you
6. Follow our Health and Safety Cardinal Rules

Leading Safety in Our Industry

Don’t just take our word for it that we lead our industry in safety, take a look at some of the things we’ve done recently that prove it.

Ezine
Every 6 months we produce an Ezine for our B2B customers outlining our advances in health and safety management.

Presentations
We are proud to have supported a number of high profile Health and Safety conferences and events some are very much focused on our industry others aren’t but they show how respected our approach to Health and Safety is.

  • RoSPA’s Construction Safety Conference

Run Flat Identification
Modern truck tyres are incredibly strong and capable of carrying heavy weights at speed over long distances. But if a tyre contains insufficient air to carry its load, there is a risk of run-flat damage to the internal structure. If this occurs the tyre is no longer serviceable and must never be repaired or inflated as the structure could fail, causing lethal explosions involving massive forces.

Our unique training DVD shows technicians how to examine a tyre to ensure it hasn’t suffered run-flat damage. It culminates in a series of controlled explosions to illustrate the frightening forces involved when a damaged tyre is inflated. The compressed air inside a regular truck tyre has a force equivalent to 12 tonnes. If the tyre explodes that force escapes rapidly; for anyone standing in the way it’s like being hit by a truck.
