Suffolk-based Anglia Freight, located close to the port of Felixstowe, has appointed ATS Euromaster as its sole tyre service provider after a free tyre inspection highlighted an opportunity to increase the performance of tyres across the company’s 27 trucks and 35 trailers.
The audit was carried out by one of ATS Euromaster’s dedicated fleet inspectors and confirmed that all tyres were operating in a safe and legal condition, but with an overwhelming proportion of new rubber fitted. This meant that the percentage of regrooved and remoulded tyres was far less than would be expected across a fleet where the tyres were being pro-actively managed.
Geoff Moulton, Managing Director of Anglia Freight, says:“Tyres are a considerable part of our running costs, yet the audit highlighted that we weren’t fully in control of our tyre expenditure. ATS Euromaster made a number of recommendations and detailed how they could work with us to ensure we got the maximum performance from every single tyre in the fleet.
“The solution we jointly developed has put the ability to manage our tyres directly back into our own hands. Each month ATS Euromaster carry out an in-depth tyre inspection across the fleet, with an online report available to view as soon as the inspector drives out of the gate. This gives us valuable management information highlighting the condition and remaining tread depth of every tyre we own, as well as listing any servicing work which ATS Euromaster needs to carry out, such as regrooving, twinning or turning tyres on the rim,” he adds.
In addition to the Euromaster Inspector tool, Anglia Freight also benefits from access to Euromaster Web Reporter, which gives secure online access to a complete fleet tyre history. This provides details of any service work which has been carried out, as well as highlighting what tyres have been fitted – and measuring that fitment against the agreed brand policy. It can also produce reports tracking the tyre spend per vehicle, vehicle type or across the fleet.
The new agreement has seen Anglia Freight adopt a joint Kumho and Vacu-Lug fitment policy, with existing Pirelli tyres to be remoulded by Vacu-Lug as wear dictates. All tyre fitting and service work will be carried out by mobile technicians from ATS Euromaster’s truck centre in Bury St Edmunds, with the majority of routine service work carried out during the weekend. The customer also has access to ATS Euromaster’s nationwide rapid-response service, which provides 24/7 roadside assistance in the event of a tyre-related breakdown.
Anglia Freight operates a mixed fleet including fifteen 6x2 tractor units, seven 18 tonne rigids, three 7.5 tonne rigids and two light commercials, together with approximately 35 trailers. The company operates from a four acre site with 140,000 square feet of warehousing and is a member of both Palletline and the Hazchem network.
