Competency Guaranteed with ATS Euromaster

15 Apr 2010 15:59

ATS Euromaster has secured its position as the first national tyre specialist to be accredited by the Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS), a local authority and government-backed initiative for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK.  It follows six months after gaining a similar accreditation from SAFEcontractor.

CHAS represents over 400 public and private sector buyer organisations, including local authorities, NHS trusts and a growing number of large private companies. It carries out health and safety assessments of prospective suppliers for these clients, providing them with a guarantee of competency each time they contract a new supplier.

Chris Hufflett, Group Operations Director at ATS Euromaster, says: “We are very proud to be the first national tyre supplier to achieve CHAS accreditation.  It’s testament to our ongoing commitment to health and safety, which is at the heart of everything we do.

“Our dual accreditation means buyers within any CHAS or SAFEcontractor member company can form a professional relationship with ATS Euromaster safe in the knowledge that we will live up to a nationally recognised and accepted threshold standard,” he adds.

The CHAS accreditation saw ATS Euromaster’s health and safety policy independently assessed to ensure it complied with legal requirements and met a standard acceptable to members.  This included checking the company’s health and safety knowledge, the number of staff with health and safety qualifications, its welfare provision and commitment to training.

CHAS was formed in 1997 by a group of health and safety and procurement professionals from across Great Britain, working in conjunction with the Association of London Government (ALG).  For more information visit http://www.chas.gov.uk/
