Continental Tyres fulfil EU criteria for HGV operators, says Hyem

9th February 2012

Continental Tyres commercial marketing manager Tracey Hyem says that the firm's range of compounds will help HGV operators cope with European Union (EU) legislation.

Under current EU rules truck drivers travelling across the continent this winter could be at risk to financial penalties or even denied right of way if they do not follow regulations.

However speaking to HGV UK, Ms Hyam explained that the current range of Continental compounds would be available to provide a solution to these problems.

“Our recently updated range of winter tyres fulfil a number of important criteria for operators," she said.

"They will ensure that vehicles can operate legally within each country as well as safely. "

As part of its continued focus on  the use of winter tyres among haulage firms, Continental  has also put together a guide on compound use during the cold months.

This new tyres guide will provide information on the different compound requirements for truck operators in the UK who will be operating in Europe this year.

Continental has taken an active role in tyre safety in recent months, after coming out in support of new EU labelling regulations last month.
