Continental has unveiled its latest creation in the US – a tyre pressure monitoring system designed specifically for commercial trucks.
The new tyre checking system has been dubbed the ContiPressureCheck and is set to be made available in the US by the end of this month after being unveiled at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville.
This new system is the latest innovation from the Continental team, which earlier this month revealed it was in the process of developing a range of winter tyres designed specifically for use in electric cars.
The new ContiPressureCheck system has been created to constantly monitor the pressure and temperature of the compound on the vehicle, providing real-time data to the driver.
Integrating a range of sensors alongside a communication system and data within the rubber of the inner surface of the type, this system monitors both the air pressure and tyre's temperature sending information to the truck's electronic unit.
Speaking to Tyrepress.com, Continental Tyres America's director of commercial vehicle tyre marketing Clif Armstrong said: “ContiPressureCheck is a unique product that brings together all Continental’s expertise in tyres, inflation, in-cab displays, sensors and monitoring technologies."
