FTA pledges to keep drivers ‘on track’ at the Olympics

9th July 2012

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has provided details of the plans in place to ensure its haulage members continue to operate effectively throughout the upcoming Olympic Games in London.

It comes as the countdown to the big event draws near, with fleet firms expecting heavy disruption to transport routes in and out of the capital, during the sporting extravaganza.

With 14,000 members to cater for, the FTA is launching a special Olympic microsite at www.fta.co.uk/olympics along with a dedicated Olympic Advisor via its member advice centre which will be available on 0870 60 50 000.

In addition to this, the body will provide regular traffic information, along with guidance on night-time deliveries. The FTA will also be providing a free mobile phone app which is set to be launched before the Games.

"Having been described as the biggest peacetime logistical event in the world, there’s no doubt that there will be hurdles to cross," a statement said.

"FTA is determined to keep all its members running throughout the Games and has put extensive plans in place to help them to do just that."
