Avon Tyres has confirmed that it is to begin its eighth successive year as the exclusive tyre supplier to the British GT Championship in 2013.
The announcement will enable the manufacturer to continue to be a world leader where GT tyre production is concerned.
Meanwhile, the firm’s sporting history dates back to 1959 – the year that racing icon Sir Stirling Moss helped the Aston Martin team to clinch that season’s World Sportscar Championship title.
Avon Tyres was associated with one of the most thrilling events in the entire history of the British GT Championship last year, when the team of Jann Mardenborough and Alex Buncombe took victory from Andrew Howard and Johnny Adam at the Brands Hatch circuit by a mere two hundredths of a second.
Paul Coates, general manager of Avon Tyres Motorsport, is confident that even more shocks and surprises will be seen in the British GT Championship during the upcoming campaign.
He acknowledged: “The Avon Tyres British GT Championship is arguably in the best shape it has been in for several years.
“The high standard of racing over the past few seasons, combined with increased exposure for the championship, has made it increasingly attractive for new teams and drivers and it’s fantastic that a national championship is now attracting teams from Europe and further afield.”
Oulton Park is the scene for the start of the 2013 British GT Championship, with the event taking place between March 30th and April 1st.
A wide selection of reliable products from Avon Tyres are available to purchase from ATS Euromaster today.
