Williams driver Pastor Maldonado has impressed once again on Pirelli tyres after coming top in the third morning of testing in Barcelona.
Maldonado set the time on Pirelli's super soft new tyres earlier today (February 23rd), with half-an-hour of the morning session left.
The lap saw the Venezuelan set a new fastest time of the week so far too, improving on the previous best reached by Nico Hulkenberg in yesterday's practice.
Maldonado's lap time on the Pirelli tyres was around 0.217 seconds faster than Hulkenberg, in the driver's first day of practice in the Williams car.
The driver's time also bettered that of former world champion Michael Schumacher, who was second fastest in the new Mercedes W03 car.
Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi was third fastest in practice today, with McClaren star Jenson Button placed in fourth position.
Drivers will be eager to gain as much practice as possible on the new Pirelli tyres, with command of the Italian manufacturer's compounds proving crucial to success in last season's Formula One World Championship.
