The choice of tyres available to Formula One teams at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix should allow for varied strategies, according to Pirelli.
Paul Hembery, the tyre-maker's motorsport director, told Autosport that the soft and super-soft compounds Pirelli is taking to the grand prix should make for a "pretty exciting" event.
Explaining the choice of compounds, he said: "[Monaco] is a track that needs good traction and we are going with soft and super soft – which are two very good compounds for those types of conditions."
Although he stopped short of predicting that the top three finishers will all make a different number of pit stops, Mr Hembery insisted there should be a "mix of strategies".
Last year's Monaco Grand Prix proved to be a tight and tense affair, with the top three of Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button separated by just 2.3 seconds at the chequered flag.
Lewis Hamilton suffered a 20-second penalty after colliding with Pastor Maldonado, but was still able to finish sixth.
