Pirelli has done a ‘great job’ with 2012 F1 tyres

17th November 2011

Italian tyre giant Pirelli has made improvements to its compound for the upcoming Formula One (F1) season, it has been claimed.

Top rookie drivers are testing out Pirelli's prototype tyre for the 2012 F1 championships at the Young Driver Test event held in Abu Dhabi this week.

Brazilian driver Luiz Razia is representing Lotus at the event and was full of praise for the developments Pirelli has made to its latest tyres.

He said: "Most of the afternoon was dedicated to the 2012 Pirelli tyre programme, and we did some evaluation on that, looking at how the tyres behaved.

"What I wanted to achieve was to do as many laps as possible so I was happy with 89 laps in total. The last time I drove the T128 was in Barcelona; the car has improved a lot since then and I feel Pirelli have done a great job with the tyres."

The 22-year-old star secured a credible ninth-place finish during the second day of testing.
