Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has launched its first road tyre derived from its partnership with Formula One (F1).
The P Zero Silver tyre is based on one of the six colours Pirelli has developed for the F1 season, with the firm currently in its first season of a three-year agreement as the motorsport's official tyre supplier.
"The name P Zero Silver in Formula One indicates the tyre with hard compounds which associates durability and high yield," said the Pirelli spokesman.
"Similarly, the P Zero Silver road tyre, thanks to an innovative solution that brings together the characteristics of the harder compounds with those of the softer ones, offers at the same time high performance, safety and greater durability."
The new tyre, which will be available from next spring, offers drivers extra precision when entering a curve and braking distances typical of the current P Zero range.
Pirelli is set to release a series of limited edition tyres developed with F1 technology following the launch of the P Zero Silver model.
