Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has praised the extra level of excitement the new Pirelli tyres have brought to the sport of Formula One this season.
The German driver has enjoyed a positive start to the current campaign, picking up his first-ever race win at the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai.
But while his other race results have proven somewhat erratic, the 26-year-old refused to lay any blame at the door of the compound manufacturer.
Last week saw former world champion Michael Schumacher hit out at the high degradation of the new tyres used in the season so far, arguing that they were limiting the performance of many of the drivers.
However Rosberg opposed such suggestions, instead describing the compounds as "great for the season" during an interview with Autosport.
"We've had four winners in four races, [so it is] all mixed up. It couldn't be better for Formula One," he said.
"Also within the races, with the tyre degradation and with lots of overtaking, we've had lots of exciting races."
The 26-year-old will have to wait fortnight until his next opportunity to try out the compounds though, with the next Grand Prix scheduled for Spain in two weeks.
