Pirelli looks set to hit the motorsport headlines once again, after it was announced that the firm would supply new tyres for the 2013 MSA British Historic Rally Championship.
The Italian compound manufacturer will supply the competition alongside tyre firms Kumho and Dmack after the event switched to an open choice version.
Previously, the competition used Dunlop tyres exclusively, but under the new system, these compounds will be made available alongside the three new alternatives.
A popular fixture of the summer rally season, the event sees cars from anywhere between the 1950s and 1980s with drivers required to traverse a series of gravel and asphalt tracks spread across the country.
Commenting on the change, Pirelli UK motorsport's Matthew Corby said: "Pirelli has been looking to expand into the historic category for quite some time, and I firmly believe that competitors will benefit from being able to choose from our wide range of tyres."
Pirelli currently supplies tyres to the Formula One world championship, where their latest compounds have proven controversial with drivers like Michael Schumacher.
