Rally race sees snow, rain and fog

14th December 2011

The 17th annual HERO's Le Jog rally race took part this weekend, with more than 60 cars taking place in the 1,400-mile event from Lands End to John O'Groats.

Drivers choosing to go with winter tyres will no doubt have been thanking their lucky stars, as they were confronted with snow, ice, rain, fog and high winds over the course of the event on Saturday, December 10th, as well as a little bit of sunshine.

The winning team comprised Roger Bricknall and Ryan Pickering, who were driving a 1965 Volvo 131 Amazon.

Organised by the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation, the race took contestants through all manner of terrains, with the first overnight stop occurring in Telford.

"We wanted to make this year's event one of the toughest ever," said Peter Nedin, clerk of the course.

"We attracted more cars than we have done for the past seven or eight years with a huge number of crews attending the event from Europe."
