New Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo and reserve Sebastian Buemi are set to test Pirelli tyres at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya later this month.
Red Bull will run the 2011 car during the test sessions and tyre manufacturer Pirelli has confirmed that the purpose of the event is to try some of its "2014 technology".
Christian Horner, Red Bull team principal, said after the weekend's race, where the team secured first and third positions: "It's a test that others have conducted for Pirelli.
"It's an old car, we're running one of our test drivers in it – probably Daniel Ricciardo will drive on the other day."
The move could court controversy as Mercedes were issued with a reprimand earlier in the year after staging what was described as a "secret" three-day test with Pirelli, complete with the team's 2013 car and drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
Red Bull will avoid reprimand or other punishments by using its 2011 vehicle and running no longer than 1,000km, as allowed in the sport's regulations.
