An improved understanding of the Pirelli tyres used in Formula One will be crucial to success at this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix.
That is according to Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, who revealed that his drivers had been practicing on the 2012 Pirelli tyres used last year.
Mr Horner explained his belief that a greater understanding of the intricacies of these compounds would be crucial to success over the course of the season.
Red Bull believes that getting a better understanding of Pirelli's tyres will be just as important to its title hopes as improving its car.
"It will be about consistency and understanding the tyres," he said in an interview with Autosport.
"We know we have got things that we can improve on, and that is what we will be focused on for China."
Despite the intensive work on the new tyres, he admitted that the outcome of the weekend's race remained "unpredictable".
