Michelin will continue to supply new tyres to Renault Sport Technologies for the World Series by Renault (WSR) championship after the firms extended their partnership to 2015.
Renault Sport Technologies opted to the renew the agreement between the companies, following the impressive performance of the Michelin tyres last season, and the French manufacturer's continued commitment to developing compounds specifically for WSR.
Under the current arrangement Michelin technicians work closely with Renault Sport Technologies to advise drivers and provide feedback on the performance and development of its racing compounds in the sport.
Speaking to Tyrepress, Michelin's customer competition department manager Philippe Mussati said: “Our partnership with Renault Sport Technologies makes a big contribution to the development of our racing tyre ranges, since this series covers both touring cars and single-seaters.
"The two categories demand tyres that are capable of withstanding very different constraints, and that is an extremely interesting challenge for us.”
The French compound manager has also pledged to provide further in-depth analysis of tyre performance over the coming season and will be developing designs for the new version of the Formula Renault 3.5.
