Formula One (F1) giants Red Bull Racing and Mercedes GP have the fastest pit crews in this year's championship, according to new research.
Mercedes has analysed the average time it takes each team to change their cars' Pirelli tyres and found that the two constructors could not be separated ahead of this weekend's (13th November) Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Red Bull has had the fastest individual stop at eight races and the fastest average stop at nine tracks but Mercedes GP is equal to its rival in regards to the execution of every stop over the season.
Overall, Red Bull and Mercedes' pitstops have been approximately 0.3 seconds faster than nearest challenger McLaren, with Force India and Ferrari making up the top five.
The HRT pit team was named the slowest in 2011, with the constructors languishing at the bottom of the rankings with Virgin and Torro Rosso.
Team Lotus' technical boss Mike Gascoyne said: "That sort of attention to detail is what separates the quick from the really quick and it is down to hard work, practice and attention to detail."
