Two of the standout competitors of the 2012 Avon Tyres MSA British Hillclimb competition have been honoured for their efforts.
Trevor Willis, who clinched the tournament's prestigious trophy last season, and the 'rookie of the year' Alex Summers both received high praise at a championship prize giving ceremony at Telford Hotel and Golf Resort.
Willis was in superb form throughout the 2012 campaign, beating 2011 champion Scott Moran to the championship by a comfortable 14 points.
Speaking to Avon Tyres about his latest achievement, Willis admitted: "Although we felt it was coming for a while as we'd been in a strong position for much of the second half of the season, it still hasn't completely sunk in.
"It's been a slow-burning realisation I suppose – even now I think 'wow, we actually did it'."
Summers first caught the eye in the MSA British Hillclimb competition when he won his maiden race in 2011 at the Shelsley Walsh circuit.
While the 21-year-old was unable to repeat this achievement during the 2012 campaign, he still managed to race to a fourth place finish at Prescott aboard his DJ Firehawk.
