Similar to many other consumer goods, drivers are increasingly researching and purchasing new tyres online. It is a trend which is prevalent across many European countries and in the UK and is gaining traction at a particular fast pace.
A survey conducted by SKOPOS revealed that a quarter of respondents had purchased tyres on the internet in the past and two-thirds of consumers who had never done so before are planning to do so in the future.
SKOPOS surveyed 5,000 male and female drivers between the ages of 18 and 65 from five selected European countries.
In the UK, the trend towards buying tyres online is growing at a strong pace. Remarkably, 14 percent of drivers said that they would go to the internet for new tyres in 2013, increased to 23 percent in 2014.
What's more, one third of drivers who said that they had never purchased tyres from the internet in the past say that they intend to do so in the future.
Online tyre retailer ATS Euromaster understands that one of the greatest benefits of shopping for tyres online is that consumers can make more informed decisions based on tyre labelling information, price and range from the comfort and convenience of their own home.
ATS Euromaster allows customers to select their tyres online and offer fitting at a local ATS centre. In selected areas, ATS also offers a Mobile Tyre Fitting Service for a little as £1, where tyres can be fitted at a home or work location, at a time to suit.
Anita Ellis, E-Business Manager said "We noticed quite quickly that the market was changing as our customers need for accessibility continued to grow. At ATS Euromaster, customers can pop into a local centre, shop online, shop on mobile or book a mobile tyre fitting service which is available in selected areas. We aim to put the customer at the heart of everything we do, which has inspired our multichannel offering".
