Sales of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand have risen between January and October 2012, compared to the same period last year.
The company announced that overall it had achieved 11.2 per cent growth compared to 2011, although sales in Europe were less buoyant.
Board member for sales and marketing at Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand Christian Klinger said: "We achieved growth, in some cases quite significant, above all outside Europe in October. The picture in Europe, on the other hand, remains difficult."
Mr Klinger suggested that while western Europe "demands [the company’s] full attention", interest in the new Golf "has got off to an excellent start".
Volkswagen states that the seventh edition Volkswagen, the 2013 Golf Mk7, has already received 40,000 pre-orders from across Europe.
The makers claim that the latest model of the iconic car is some 23 per cent more efficient than previous incarnations.
