British drivers have been urged to prepare for winter driving conditions now as snow is expected within the next two months.
Meteorologist James Madden of Exacta Weather has forecast that Brits will experience below average temperatures in October, with snow storms expected to hit some places next month and strike the rest of the country over the winter.
Peter Fairlie, group sales director at tyre retailer ATS Euromaster, advised fleet businesses to fit suitable tyres for the winter to ensure that their operations are not affected.
He said: "The key is to think ahead and plan early. There's no point waiting until your fleet is stuck to consider cold weather tyres. Companies have been changing tyres on the continent for decades, but it's now become a business-critical issue for the UK too."
ATS Euromaster has doubled its investment in cold weather tyres this year to £6 million, with customers able to choose from a range of premium, mid-range and affordable brands.
