Consumer watchdog Which? has published results of its winter tyre test and the Michelin Alpin A4 has achieved Best Buy status in the 14 and 16 inch category.
According to the testers at Which?, the tyres were "best for handling and stability on dry roads and stopped in the shortest distance when braking on ice".
The Michelin Alpin A4 also tested well for fuel economy and overall cost-effectiveness as it has a predicted lifespan of 47,000 miles making it "easily the most hard-wearing tyre on test", Which? stated.
Malcolm Scovell, commercial director at Michelin, said that he hoped the fact that Which? were roadtesting winter tyres would help to "raise awareness of the safety and mobility benefits of fitting cold weather tyres during the winter months".
AutoExpress conducted a winter tyre test of its own and revealed that the Continental ContiWinterContact TS 830 P won its "winter and all-season picks in the big-selling 225/45R17 size".
