The upcoming introduction of regulations for the labelling of new tyres have been welcomed by Goodyear Dunlop Europe vice president Michel Rzonzef.
Mr Rzonzef gave his endorsement to the new rules surrounding tyres in the wake of the recent Goodyear Dunlop Symposium.
Speaking to Fleetworld, the compound expert was eager to point to the huge benefits that could be witnessed as a result of the change.
Under the new rules, labelling in set to provide buyers with a rating for wet grip, noise emissions and rolling resistance before purchasing.
Mr Rzonzef welcomed the change after revealing that a recent survey conducted by the firm showed that 92 per cent of European truck operators measured their fuel consumption, with 70 per cent having a fuel efficiency target.
"Labelling will go a long way to helping those fleets achieve their targets," he said.
However, the Goodyear tyres chief also urged for caution on the part of those introducing the changes.
"It is vital that it is nationally monitored and strong enforcement measures are taken if inaccurate information is found," he said.
