Goodyear satisfied with 2011 sales of tyres

15th February 2012

Sales of Goodyear tyres remained strong in 2011, despite a slight drop in unit volume during the fourth quarter of the year.

That is according to the latest set of financial results to be published by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, which indicated that sales increased by 21 per cent for the full year to reach a new record high.

Goodyear produces tyres for a range of market segments, including cars and 4x4s, with its Eagle F1 asymmetrics particularly popular among customers for the high performance they offer to luxury vehicles, without sacrificing anything in the way of control.

At the end of last year, the company also highlighted how it aims to innovate with Goodyear tyres by announcing plans to introduce microchips in its latest range of truck tyres, allowing for greater monitoring and safety standards on UK roads.

Goodyear chairman and chief executive Richard Kramer said: "I am very pleased with our record sales and segment operating income performance in 2011 as we successfully managed a challenging economic environment.

"We feel good about the progress we have made in improving our business model and remain confident in our long-term strategy."
