Half a million cold weather Michelin tyres sold in the UK, company reveals

Over half a million Michelin tyres have been sold in the UK this winter – almost 50 per cent more than those sold in 2011.

That is according to Michelin product marketing manager Steve Dolby who revealed the figure in a recent interview with motoring website Honest John.

The interview came after Which? magazine awarded the Michelin Alpin A4 and Primacy Alpin PA3 cold weather tyres with the 'Best Buy' accolades in their respective classes.

"There has been considerable interest from UK consumers in cold weather tyres this year and sales so far are estimated to be more than half a million tyres," he said.

"Both the Michelin Alpin A4 and Michelin Primacy Alpin tyres provide an excellent balance of performance, which has contributed to their success."

The increase in winter Michelin tyres has come despite road and weather conditions remaining relatively mild so far this year, in comparison with previous winters.

Despite this, the UK climate remains unpredictable and any driver considering winter tyres should speak to a qualified garage who can find the best tyres for them at the best prices.
