Honda Racing's new Civic Next Generation Touring Car enjoyed its first public performance at Brands Hatch today (February 21st).
The vehicle will be driven by Gordon 'Flash' Shedden and Matt Neal in the upcoming Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), which gets underway in April.
Fitted with Dunlop tyres, the vehicle was tested around Brands Hatch following a successful preliminary workout at the MIRA test track last week, where its various systems were checked.
Neal commented: "This is the first opportunity we have had to get behind the wheel to really see what the car has got.
"The team are really pleased with the results from the test at MIRA last week and I can't wait to finally start putting the car through its paces."
Under BTCC rules, all participating vehicles must be fitted with the same type of tyre, provided by exclusive supplier Dunlop.
Each car is allowed 16 slick new tyres for dry racing per event, in addition to six that have been previously marked or declared. There is no limit on the number of treaded tyres for wet weather racing.
Dunlop and the BTCC monitor tyre allocations using radio frequency identification tyres.
