The upcoming Korea Grand Prix will provide supersoft Pirelli tyres with their toughest challenge yet, according to a company executive.
Paul Hembery, motorsport director for Pirelli, claimed that this Sunday's (16th October) race will see Formula One (F1) teams try out various tyre strategies to succeed on the unique circuit.
He said: "Korea presents the supersoft tyres in particular with their toughest test of the year.
"Because of the abrasive surface and comparatively high lateral loading in Korea we might expect a higher number of pit stops than usual from the drivers basing their strategies around the softer tyre."
Mr Hembery added that the race gives the Italian firm the chance to trial some different tyre nominations ahead of next year as the championship has now been secured by Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel.
The Korea Grand Prix marks the first time in more than 50 years that a F1 world champion has sported Pirelli tyres.
