Michelin and recycling firm agree tyre shared-risk pricing model

23rd November 2012

ATS Euromaster will be working in conjunction with independent Michelin Certified Centres to provide recycling firm Sita UK's fleet of 1,400 vehicles with the French company's tyres.

Michelin will be working in partnership with Sita UK on a shared-risk pricing model, which means that there is a financial incentive for the tyre giant to help the recycling and resource management company reduce damage to its vehicles.

Sita's UK's general manager for fleet Paul Shipman explained that the collaboration helps both companies to be more environmentally conscious.

“This deal with Michelin not only lowers the initial cost to us but it also fits with our sustainability vision by giving us an added financial incentive to look after our tyres over the long term,” he said.

The company will be using a variety of different tyres, depending on which vehicles and operations they are being used for. For example, the Michelin XZU tyres will be used for vehicles which are involved in kerbing as they are built to withstand it.

Michelin is known for its green credentials and invented radial tyre technology which helps to cut fuel consumption.
