Michelin tyres had a stellar showing at the American Le Mans Series on Saturday, April 20th. The tyre maker’s street soft model won the race, with Muscle Milk Pickett Racing (MMPR) at the wheel. MMPR’s victory last weekend marks their third victory at Long Beach.
The Benicia, California based team consists of award-winning drivers Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf. The pair ran on a single set of Michelin street soft tyres for both the qualifying race and official competition.
“The team made a perfect race strategy and the Michelin street softs were great once again,” said Mr Graf.
Ultra wides also put on quite a show at the event. Coming in second, Neel Jani and Nick Heidfeld of Rebellion Racing Toyota chose Michelin’s ultra wide tyres for the entirety of the street race.
Michelin were pleased with the Le Mans performance. Ken Payne, motorsports technical director for Michelin North America, said: “We were pleased to see that both our Michelin street soft and ultra wide tyre combinations were able to deliver excellent performance and extended tyre life”.
