Michelin to fit tyres to Zipcar’s UK fleet

4th July 2012

Car sharing network Zipcar has signed a contract with Michelin which will see the French firm fits its tyres across Zipcar's entire UK fleet.

Zipcar UK, which operates in London, Bristol, Cambridge and Oxford, will now begin to roll out the high-quality compounds across all 1,800 of its cars and vans as part of the new deal.

David Cruickshank, head of fleet for Zipcar UK, revealed that the firm opted to work with Michelin due to the added safety, durability and longevity the French company's tyres will offer.

The safety of our members is paramount, and the team at Michelin has demonstrated to us how the braking response of our vehicles will improve, thanks to the reduced stopping distances of their higher quality tyres.

He said: "Zipcar is all about providing its members and its business customers with wheels when they want them, so high availability and minimal repairs is essential.

"The improved durability offered by these Michelin tyres will keep our vehicles on the road and available for members, for longer."

ATS Euromaster will continue to oversee the ongoing tyre maintenance and repair of Zipcar's UK fleet, which includes the Audi A3 and the Volkswagen Golf.
