Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has once again been named the world's leading sustainable provider of tyres and autoparts.
The firm has topped the Autoparts and Tyres sector in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe and Dow Jones Sustainability World indexes for the fifth consecutive year
Pirelli was awarded a total score of 91, almost twice as much as the average score (53) awarded to rival companies in the industry.
Swiss asset management investment group SAM compiled the entry criteria for the two indexes, while the firm also carried out the assessment process.
Companies are selected for the index depending on their economic, environmental and social contributions.
As part of the economic criteria, firms are assessed on their corporate governance, risk management, codes of conduct, brand management and innovation processes.
SAM also looks at their environmental measures by investigating a company's environmental policies, procedures and systems, while the social criteria included health and safety in the workplace and supply chain management.
