The new Mercedes MGP W03 will be taking to the track this week with a fresh set of Pirelli tyres, but the team behind the constructor's latest race car has already been burning rubber at a private test in Barcelona.
Mercedes headed to Spain ahead of this week's second multi-team testing session at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Because it only tested for three of the four days at Jerez, the team had an extra day of testing to make use of and put it to good effect in Barcelona.
"During Sunday’s outing, Michael Schumacher was behind the wheel in the morning before team mate Nico Rosberg took over in the afternoon," said the official F1 site.
"The new Mercedes has already completed over 300 kilometres."
It will officially be launched on Tuesday morning (February 21st), with its first competitive outing set for the Australian Grand Prix, which takes place from March 16th to 18th in Melbourne.
