Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Cumbria visits region’s Pirelli factory

26th February 2013

Employees at Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli's factory in Carlisle were given a boost last week, when Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Cumbria, Mrs Claire Hensman, visited the facility.

With more than 800 members of staff based at the northern England base, it is clear to see that there are plenty of developments going on at the factory.

In order to get a glimpse of the happenings at the plant, Mrs Hensman took a tour of the Carlisle building along with her husband Peter and Professor Joe Hendry, the leader of Carlisle City Council.

To ensure that Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Cumbria saw everything at the facility, Alan Wilson, the engineering manager of Pirelli Carlisle, hosted the trio on their tour.

Once the trip was brought to a close, Mr Wilson acknowledged: "Our visitors were surprised by the scale of the Carlisle operation and were impressed by the technical complexity and prestigious customer portfolio.

"Mrs Hensman expressed particular interest in the Pirelli apprenticeship programme and the opportunities available to local young people."

ATS Euromaster has Pirelli tyres in stock to suit every motorist's needs and desires.
