Macau Grand Prix motorcyclist wins on Pirelli tyres

27th November 2012

Record-breaking motorcyclist Michael Rutter succeeded in securing his eighth Macau Grand Prix win while using Pirelli's Diablo Superbike slick tyres.

Rutter described the victory as "just incredible" and suggested that his Pirelli tyres helped him to gain a competitive edge in what he described as a "tough race".

"[My fellow rider Martin Jessopp who came in second place] kept me on my toes but the Pirelli tyres continued to give great grip throughout the race, allowing me to keep pushing to the very end," he said.

Jason Griffiths, Pirelli UK racing manager said that Rutter was able to secure another win as he was confident with the "consistent performance" and durability that his bike and its tyres would give him.

The Macau Grand Prix circuit has been host to many famous Formula 1 drivers over the years and previous winners have included Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard.
