Pirelli should reintroduce high degradation tyres to Formula 1 next season, according to McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh.
Speaking to autosport.com, Mr Whitmarsh was full of praise for the return of Pirelli tyres to Formula 1 this season.
Prior to the 2010/11 campaign, the Italian manufacturer had spent 20 years away from racing's premier competition.
He was particularly keen on Pirelli's introduction of faster degrading tyres at the beginning of the season which he felt made "a great contribution to the show".
As the season progressed though, Mr Whitmarsh noted that the improved durability of the Pirelli tyres ultimately removed some of the uncertainty that surrounded the early races.
"I think we would like to give them the challenge of making high degradation tyres and give us a bit more headache," he suggested.
The McLaren boss remained upbeat though and was confident that Pirelli would continue to work on their compounds in order to "make sure we have a spectacle and show".
