Pirelli begins to ‘autograph’ its P Zero tyres

11th March 2013

Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has announced that it has begun to ‘autograph’ its P Zero original equipment tyres when they are fitted onto prestige vehicles.

Drivers will therefore notice that cars being used for this practice feature tyres which have been marked. This is to show that the rubber used has been developed specifically to suit the vehicle in question.

Such a strategy is similar in set up to the Tire Performance Code which General Motors requires of the OE tyres which are supplied for its motors.

Pirelli has acknowledged that it is autographing its P Zero tyres to demonstrate to drivers that the products have been homologated to cater for the individual needs of a certain vehicle.

There are many similarities to each Pirelli P Zero tyre though, such as the fact that each uses special nano composites in the tire compound and features a tread pattern of three wide longitudinal grooves to enhance grip on slippery terrains.

Motorists have the opportunity to see the P Zero’s markings at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, as the tyres have been fitted to new ultra-high-performance cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and McLaren Automotive for the occasion.

ATS Euromaster has a wide range of reliable Pirelli tyres in stock right now.
