A concept for the new 650S Coupe from McLaren has been unveiled, complete with tyres from Pirelli to finish off its design.
McLaren Special Operations (MSO), which is the bespoke division of the automotive company, has released a set of images of its MSO 650S Coupe Concept that showcases a range of engineering upgrades for the 650S Coupe and 650S Spider.
MSO selected the Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres to complement its lightweight satin black alloy wheels, which are new to the 650S concept.
Pirelli are among the companies that have partnered with McLaren as it is known to be an expert in its field. McLaren explained that it chose world leading businesses to aid with the manufacture of its sports cars as it believes they can provide "specialist expertise and technology".
As Pirelli specialises in the design of tyres for Formula One, So too does McLaren specialises in crafting vehicles for the motorspot. However, its sports cars are adapted to deliver high performance both on the road and the track.
It has been building cars with carbon fibre chassis since 1981, which are designed with a view to making cars lighter and therefore faster.
Many of the new features that have been introduced to the coupe concept are made of carbon fibre. This includes the new rear diffuser and the side blades.
The new carbon fibre sideblades are similar to those already present on the 650S Coupe and the 650S Spider although made to look more aggressive. They are also full length, which improves the airflow along the bodywork of the vehicle, which helps to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
Other design changes include that of the paint job, which is in a specially designed shade of metallic black complete with a ruby red flake known as Agrigan Black. Additionally, the cockpit is fitted with racing style seats.
The Coupe Concept is due to be toured around China in the coming weeks. It is not available for purchase although many of the upgrades that it demonstrates are available for purchase from McLaren dealers.
