Pirelli ‘constantly reinventing’ its tyres throughout F1 season

11th November 2011

Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has revealed that it is constantly redeveloping its tyres throughout the course of the Formula One (F1) season.

In 2010, the firm signed a three-year deal to become the sole tyre supplier to F1 and it claims its tyres have changed dramatically over the past 12 months.

Paul Hembery, Pirelli's motorsport director, described the pace of development in F1 as "phenomenal", with the firm keeping in constant dialogue with teams to improve its tyres.

He said: "This means that in a way we have had to constantly reinvent ourselves in order to keep on pushing the envelope and next year's tyres represent the next step, with yet more performance.

"The feedback and information that we obtain over the Abu Dhabi weekend and test will be very important as we continue to develop our 2012 range of P Zero tyres."

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is due to take place this Sunday (13th November), with McLaren star Jenson Button seeking to pip his rivals to second place in the drivers' championship.
