Pirelli prepares for the 2013 Italian Rally Championship

20th March 2013

Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli is set to play a vital part in the Italian Rally Championship once again this year, as the 2013 season gets underway at the weekend.

The firm will be providing the tyres to a host of top championship contenders and highly-decorated motorsport stars, as well as attempting to defend its Italian Rally title.

In order to try and retain its crown, Pirelli will be supplying the two-wheel drive Peugeot 208 R2 of six-time Italian Rally Championship champion Paolo Andreucci, as he aims to make it seven wins in the motorsport.

Former Sanremo Rally winner Alessandro Perico is also being tipped for success in the 2013 Italian Rally Championship, with Pirelli also fitting its tyres to his privately-run Peugeot 207 S2000.

Elsewhere in the field, the Italian tyre maker has announced that it will equip the factory Skoda Italia team for the first time, which is being represented by Umberto Scandola and his Fabia S2000.

Paul Hembery, the motorsport director of Pirelli, commented: “The Italian Rally Championship has always been extremely important for Pirelli, and we’d particularly like to welcome Skoda Italia and Umberto Scandola into our family.”

The 2013 Italian Rally Championship gets underway with the all-asphalt Rally il Ciocco in Tuscany between March 22nd and 24th.

ATS Euromaster stocks a wide range of cheap and reliable Pirelli tyres.
