Pirelli to equip Skoda Italia’s entry into the 2013 Italian Rally Championship

30th January 2013

The official Skoda Italia entry into this year's Italian Rally Championship will be equipped by Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli, it has been formally announced.

Such a decision means that Pirelli has the opportunity to work with two of the biggest competitors in the motorsport in 2013.

This is because the Skoda Italia entry into this year's Italian Rally Championship will be driven by up-and-coming talent Umberto Scandola, who has been tipped for success in the tournament in the months to come.

On top of this, Pirelli has also been tasked with equipping Peugeot Italia's 208 R2 car for the event, which will be handled by four-time Italian Rally Championship victor Paolo Andreucci.

Paul Hembery, the motorsport director at Pirelli, acknowledged: "We're delighted that Skoda has appreciated the qualities of our tyres and chosen to use our tyres on the Italian Rally Championship: a series that is historically extremely important to us, as it contains a wide variety of gravel and asphalt conditions that allows us to effectively showcase the adaptability, strength and performance of our tyres in our domestic market."

The 2013 Italian Rally Championship kicks off in March with the Ciocco Rally and runs through until the season-closing Sanremo Rally in October.

ATS Euromaster has a wide range of Pirelli tyres in stock ready to purchase today.
