Pirelli to try new tyres at Brazilian Grand Prix

21st November 2012

Forumla 1 enthusiasts will no doubt be pleased to hear that Pirelli is planning on testing some of its 2013 prototype tyres at this year's Brazilian Grand Prix.

Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery suggested that further testing wouldn 't be possible until February, so the opportunity to try out new tyres was one not to be missed.

"This will be an extremely valuable opportunity for [the drivers] to see what our new tyres are like as they finalise their 2013 cars", he said.

Mr Hembery explained that "both the compounds and the construction will be different", which will mean that the tyres will behave slightly differently on the track.

He said that while the new design is being described as a prototype, it will "be very representative of our general design philosophy next year".

The event held in Sao Paulo's Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace at Interlagos is one of the oldest of the Grand Prix circuits.

Discussing the track, Lotus driver Kimmi Raikkonen said: "I have lived some of the best moments of my life at this circuit, and that’s something nobody can take away."
