Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has topped a customer satisfaction survey for its range of sport and performance tyres.
Global market research firm JD Power and Associates has published the results of a survey in which customers ranked Pirelli the leading tyre maker in the Performance/Sport category.
The company achieved a Tyre Satisfaction Index score of 788, around 40 points ahead of the average of 748.
Tom Gravalos, Pirelli Tyre North America's vice president of marketing, motorsports and original equipment, said: "This result is evidence that a combination of state of the art technology and design can result in high-performance tyres that no longer sacrifice our consumer's needs.
"Our scientific advancements have eliminated compromises in performance, comfort, acceleration, braking and handling in wet and dry conditions."
Nearly 27,000 owners of a car released in 2010 or 2011 took part in the Original Equipment Tyre Customer Satisfaction Study in the fourth quarter of last year.
