Pirelli tyres stand up to difficult Scottish Rally conditions

4th July 2012

Italian tyre giant Pirelli has praised the durability of its tyres after they were severely tested in the latest round of the MSA Scottish Rally Championships.

On Saturday (30th June), drivers competed in a rain-soaked RSAC Scottish Rally in Dumfries, with many relying on Pirelli tyres to guide them to victory.

Reigning British rally champions David Bogie and co-driver Kevin Rae secured their fourth victory of the season in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 equipped with Pirelli's KM6 tyres.

The second and third place drivers also used Pirelli's tyres, while David Wilson and Keith Robathan secured a one-two for Pirelli as they used GM6 tyres to take the top two spots in the two-wheel drive category.

Meanwhile, Dougal Brown, the winner of the Group N category, also relied on Pirelli KM6 tyres.

Matthew Corby, Pirelli UK's motorsport operations manager, revealed that the drivers who used both the KM6 and the GM6 tyres were impressed by the compounds.

He told the Typress website: "Once again, our tyres have demonstrated that they work well in testing conditions and this has been reflected in a series of top results including victories across three categories at the weekend."
