Teams involved in the 2013 Formula One (F1) season have picked up plenty of positive impressions from trying out Pirelli's new racing tyres for the first time.
Every outfit involved in this year's F1 campaign came out in force at the opening test session of the season in Jerez, Spain, last week.
Not only did the four-day training on the tight and twisting 4.428-kilometre Spanish track give teams the opportunity to sample their new cars, but the circuit's demanding design meant that most aspects of Pirelli's 2013 range of F1 tyres were tested to their limits.
Paul Hembery, Pirelli's motorsport director, picked up as much, when he explained: "The four days spent at Jerez, with most teams running their new cars, gave us all a good general impression of the characteristics of our 2013 tyres on track, with completely new compounds and construction.
"It seems that we are very much on the right road and the changes we wanted to see are all there: the tyres are faster than their equivalents last year, and they have a wider window of peak performance."
The stars of F1 2013 now move on to the second official test session in Barcelona, which takes place between February 19th and 22nd, ahead of the new season beginning in Australia in March.
