Webber: Pirelli tyres have made F1 races more exciting

31st October 2011

Formula One (F1) races this season have been more exciting following the use of Pirelli tyres, according to Mark Webber.

In 2010, the Italian tyre manufacturer signed a three-year deal to become the sole tyre supplier, taking over from rival firm Bridgestone.

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, the Red Bull driver attributed the increase in overtaking manoeuvres this year down to the use of Pirelli tyres.

He told the news provider: "It's like changing the golf club of a professional. In general, it's been good for the sport this year. The championship has not been exciting but the racing has been."

Webber's team-mate Sebastian Vettel continued his dominance of the sport yesterday (30th October) as he claimed his 11th win of the season in India.

The German started from pole position and never let go of his lead as he took the chequered flag at the new track over eight seconds ahead of Jenson Button.
