The hatchback is the most popular car model in the UK, according to new research.
Car leasing website contracthireandleasing.com has published the results of a study which shows that hatchbacks accounted for around a quarter (24 per cent) of all vehicle searches on the website.
Approximately three-fifths of these were searches made by personal users, with the remainder coming from business customers.
The most-searched for cars were also hatchbacks, with the Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus, Vauxhall Corsa, Volkswagen Golf and Vauxhall Astra all proving popular among Brits.
Richard Lawton, spokesperson for the website, said: "Our love of hatchback appears to be alive and well. We believe that it is the hatchback's flexible nature that makes it so appealing both for businesses and for family use."
Saloon car tyres also got a lot of use, with the model named the second-most popular vehicle and accounting for a fifth (21 per cent) of searches.
