Seat supports Tyresafe’s campaign

26th September 2011

Car manufacturer Seat has thrown its support behind Tyresafe's campaign to promote the benefits of fitting winter tyres.

TyreSafe, a not-for-profit organisation, is seeking to encourage more UK drivers to switch to cold weather tyres this year following two harsh winters.

Seat has released a video to highlight the importance of fitting winter tyres, which shows how a Seat Ibiza with summer tyres took four metres longer to stop on an ice rink than the same car fitted with cold weather tyres.

Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe, claimed that any driver who is concerned about their safety on the road this winter should use winter weather tyres as they are the "safest option".

He said: "Take a look at the Seat demonstration movie and then you can make an informed choice about whether to fit them or not, but I'm sure most will agree that the results are very convincing – and the potential outcome is frightening."

Next month is official Tyre Safety month, which aims to promote the importance of tyre maintenance.
